A Texas doctor who was fired after presumably stealing 9 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in order to administer them to his household and pals now faces criminal charges.
While working at a vaccination site in the town of Humble in December 2020, Gokal supposedly took one vial of the vaccine which included 9 separate dosages.

Doyle added that Harris County health authorities would have rather let the vaccines “go to squander and are attempting to disparage this guy’s credibility while doing so to support this policy.”
Gokal deals with a charge of theft by a public servant. If convicted, Gokal could confront a year in jail and be required to pay a $4,000 fine.

Both versions of the COVID-19 vaccine presently distributed by the U.S. Federal government require refrigerated storage units. Moderna’s vaccine can be kept in a standard freezer unity for approximately 6 months or in a routine refrigerator for as much as 30 days. The vaccine produced by Pfizer needs to be saved in an industrial freezer unit at roughly minus 158 degrees Fahrenheit. Pfizer’s vaccine can just be kept in a standard refrigerator for approximately 5 days.
SpecialtyRx, an Ohio supplier of the COVID-19 vaccine, was suspended on Wednesday after 890 doses of the Moderna vaccine were found to be non-viable. Temperature levels in SpecialtyRx’s refrigeration units were not monitored, an infraction of policies set by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
According to a declaration from the ODH, allowances of COVID-19 vaccines to SpecialtyRx were halted “and the supplier has been instructed to not administer or transfer any of the affected doses” up until more notification.
