PHLEBOTOMY
The band began as a death metal band under the name of Paralysis. Together with other greek bands such as Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, Necromantia, and Nightfall they began to spread their name in the regional and international underground scene
In 1993 rather rapidly after Beyond The Chaos demonstration, PARALYSIS changed into PHLEBOTOMY and ended up being a 5-piece band as Andreas Bereris (guitar) participated in addition to Tolis from LEGION OF DOOM. With this line-up they launched Promo ’93 that was sent out to labels and mags. They had strategies to launch a split 7″ EP with PSYCHIC CRUSH (later VORPHALACK) however in the end both bands accepted make their own single, so PHLEBOTOMY launched “Dawn of Grief” EP on December ’93 They handled to develop an excellent piece of doom/death enhanced with occult synths, heavenly female vocals, ruthless grunts and an arcane environment comparable to early CELESTIAL SEASON, THE GATHERING and PHLEBOTOMIZED …
Next year they taped the “Voluptuous” demonstration which drew the attention of Holy Records label and they once again altered their name to “On Thorns I Lay” in recommendation to Shakespeare.
On September 2021, Stefanos (Vocals) creator of the band, left “On Thorns I Lay” for individual factors and chose to recreate the famous PHLEBOTOMY, with some brand-new and some x-members of the band.
Finally Phlebotomy are back after 27 years, with dreams and real enthusiasm for Atmospheric Doom Death metal.
