New York City Guv Andrew Cuomo was hailed as a COVID-19 hero for staging routine press conferences throughout the pandemic– regardless of his state experiencing the most COVID deaths, his performative blockade of New Rochelle in the early days of the pandemic, his awkward handling of dining establishments and schools, his childish infighting with Mayor de Blasio, and the reality that he put individuals contaminated with COVID-19 back into assisted living home, leading to countless deaths. That last point was tossed into sharper relief this previous week after one of Cuomo’s leading assistants, Melissa DeRosa, exposed that their administration kept data on COVID-19 nursing home deaths While the Cuomo administration reported 9,154 retirement home deaths due to COVID-19, the genuine number was far greater: 15,049
On Monday night, The Everyday Show host Trevor Noah wasn’t purchasing the Cuomo administration’s reason that they ‘d withheld the damning information over issues that the Trump Justice Department may in turn hold it versus them.
” Wow. Really, Governor Cuomo? You decreased your own numbers to make yourself look much better? Woof,” said Noah. “And the explanation that they’re choosing is they thought the Trump administration would utilize the high nursing home deaths versus them, which, yeah. Usually if you’re refraining from doing an excellent task, it gets used versus you. That’s the whole point of data!
