Description:
General Summary:
- Performs phlebotomy specimen collection on all patients according to standard operating practices.
- Clients are effectively recognized and specimens are appropriately identified throughout the collection procedure 100% of the time with strict adherence to policy and procedure.
- Takes part in specimen processing, circulation and main accessioning.
- Precisely procedures and accessions all incoming lab specimens.
- Responsible for confirming all required clients and specimen recognition details is properly documented.
- Primary laboratory interaction liaison between doctors, nursing units, physician offices, patients, public and lab sections through telephone and in person.
- Provides information regarding test reports, the status of tests in process and information of physician orders.
- Produces reports for charting and help in the charting of reports to client care systems.
- Performs all other required reporting functions of laboratory reports by means of mail and fax and function as receptionist to inbound clients of the Department of Lab Solutions.
- Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Healthcare Facility.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if relevant):
None.
Minimum Understanding, Skills, and Talent Required:
High School graduate, GED or greater required;-LRB-

- 6 months previous expert experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting with shown competency in performing the full range of specimen collections, customer service management, and strong social abilities highly chosen.
- 1 year recent experience carrying out phlebotomy treatments highly preferred.
- Capability demonstrated to carry out effective venipuncture procedures without support.
- Ability to work independently with very little reliance on supervisory support.
- Ability to efficiently manage time and scheduling without direct guidance and show versatility and versatility.
- Capability to communicate with patients, doctors, and medical facility personnel in a reliable, considerate and professional way.
- Capability to read, write and demonstrate an understanding of the treatments involved in specimen collection and regular screening.
- Ability to operate in harmony with other workers.
- Shows standard computer system literacy.
- Demonstrates understanding, skill and command of the oral and written English language.
- Ability to transport specimens to the laboratory quickly without disrupting the specimen stability.
Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements: Medium work. Applying up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or approximately 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or as much as 10 pounds of force constantly to move items. Capability to raise patients weighing up to 35 pounds.
Visual Acuity: The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and examining information and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; substantial reading; visual inspection including little defects, little parts, and/or operation of machines (consisting of examination); using measurement gadgets; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances near to the eyes.
Ecological Conditions: The employee undergoes threats. Consists of a variety of physical conditions, such as distance to moving mechanical parts, moving automobiles, electrical existing, dealing with scaffolding and high places, direct exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
