Draws blood from clients or donors in medical facility, blood bank, or comparable facility for analysis or other medical functions: Assembles equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, non reusable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures. Verifies or tape-records identity of client or donor and speaks with client or donor to allay fear of treatment. Uses tourniquet to arm, finds accessible vein, swabs pierce area with antiseptic, and inserts needle into vein to draw blood into collection tube or bag. Withdraws needle, uses treatment to puncture website, and labels and stores blood container for subsequent processing. May prick finger to draw blood. May conduct interviews, take important signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank.
