Johnson & Johnson on Friday said its single-dose vaccine was 66?ficient overall in preventing COVID-19 in its global clinical trial, and 85?fective in preventing severe disease. The trial included almost 44,000 participants across the United States, Latin America and South Africa, and the level of defense varied by area.

” The level of protection versus moderate to serious COVID-19 infection was 72%in the United States, 66%in Latin America and 57%in South Africa, 28 days post-vaccination,” the business said, including that the “beginning of security was observed as early as day 14.”

Johnson & Johnson said it prepares to submit for emergency situation usage authorization in the United States in early February.
