Six-time Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton is wanting to return for Sunday’s last race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
Hamilton published a video on Tuesday announcing that he is feeling “fantastic” after being detected with COVID-19 on Nov.30
The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 group stated in a declaration on Dec. 1 that Hamilton tested favorable and would be unable to take part in the Sakhir Grand Prix on Dec. 6.
Per ESPN.com, Hamilton has to have a “negative test result for COVID-19 in line with the FIA’s testing procedures” and “adhere to federal government guidelines in both Bahrain and Abu Dhabi in order to travel from Bahrain to the United Arab Emirates and arrive at the track.”
ESPN also kept in mind that in order for Hamilton to race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he must finish at least one session on Friday or Saturday or the certifying session on Saturday.
In spite of missing out on one race, Hamilton has a commanding lead in the general F1 standings and has already clinched the championship with 332 points with 11 wins in 15 appearances. Valtteri Bottas is second in the general standings with 205 points.
Hamilton’s 7 titles is tied with Michael Schumacher for the most in F1 history. The 35- year-old has actually never ended up lower than 5th in the points standings throughout his 14- year Formula One profession, including eight straight years finishing very first or second.
