Position Summary:
Individuals in this position are accountable for all Laboratory pre-analytic and post-analytic processes. Supervisor will offer oversight and participate in, keeping track of and guideline to make sure that specimens are collected, gotten, routed and processed such that proper screening can happen. Manager will offer oversight and participate in, monitoring and guideline for outcome routing and faxing of completed test outcomes, Laboratory phlebotomy operations, specimen collection and associated worker competency. Make sure that testing not carried out by Montrose Memorial Healthcare facility are processed and shipped per testing lab requirements and that results that are not gotten by direct user interface are participated in the Lab electronic health record.
The Manager is responsible to the Pathologists and Laboratory Supervisor.
Vital Functions: Accountable for oversight, and involvement, of Laboratory specimen collection procedure based upon established guidelines and treatments.
- Responsible for oversight of phlebotomy staff continuing education.
- Accountable for oversight of Lab personnel phlebotomy competency.
- Responsible for oversight of phlebotomy personnel orientation and annual assessments.
- Keeps suitable staff for the appropriate operation of the department.
- Oversight of all supplies and devices needed for collection, processing, or shipment of Laboratory samples are readily available as required.
- Oversight of Laboratory out-patient complete satisfaction.
- Other duties as appointed.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
While carrying out the tasks of this task, the employee is frequently required to see, talk and hear. The worker regularly is required to sit and use hands together with fingers, to deal with or feel. The staff member is occasionally needed to stand, stroll, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will routinely work with specimens that are possibly infections and/or biohazardous and should use suitable protective equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
a) Education: High School Diploma or comparable. Computer system abilities.
b) Training & Experience: 3 years laboratory experience showing knowledge/experience of Lab pre-analytic and post-analytic procedures.
