There is certification program for Phlebotomist, the certification is not required for the employment purposes but since there is a great competition and most of the employers demand the certified phlebotomist technicians. If you are looking for the certification then there is a certification exam administrated by The American Medical Technologists (AMT), The American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and The American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP).

Once you will pass the exam, you will be working as a certified phlebotomist. They also follow the typical hospital working schedule of 40 hours per week shift, with rotating evening, morning and nights. However, sometime the working hours can exceed due to emergencies. Phlebotomist’s job does include a lot of walking as they have to walk through different wards to collect and deliver the blood samples; however there is not much physical work involved like carrying heavy weight boxes around the hospitals. The Phlebotomists earns from $26,710 to $48,610 annually and this is a good salary if you have training for a year and have certification.
