A phlebotomist is trained to make an incision in a vein with a needle to draw blood from a patient for diagnostic and other medical functions. Postsecondary phlebotomy programs are available in neighborhood colleges and employment schools. Expert accreditation in Ohio is through the American Society of Scientific Experts.
